Delicious coffee - amazing staff - try the cookies at your own risk (you'll be hooked for life). Try the valrhona dark chocolate or mocha. Deadly delicious.

Amazing coffee and a beautiful shop to sit in. They don't have Wifi so you don't have a lot of lingerers and it stays really clean. They also serve beer and wine.

You could spend a whole month trying all the different cafes in Portland but if you lust after an atmosphere that's warm, welcoming and prides itself on well made espresso; I highly recommend Barista. I love hearing about the espresso featured (usually 3 to choose from) and bringing my laptop to work from their large wooden table in the back. There's also great outdoor seating to soak up the sun when it's not raining. They don't have a menu for meals; just simple pastries.
