This is a nice smaller shrine off the beaten track in a peaceful neighborhood, known for its many different kinds of cherry trees. (very busy of course during blossom season)

Kyoto's best 'Ohanami' Sakura Cherry Blossom viewing spot that has many food booths and even BBQ rentals under the cherry blossoms. Bloom usually occurs between 3/20-4/20.

Established in 794 by Emperor Kammu, Hirano Shrine is a famous spot for cherry blossom viewing. There are around 400 cherry trees of 50 varieties within the shrine precincts.
