mount carmel is one of the biggest national parks in Israel. wonderful for hiking and for enjoying the natural forest with spectacular views over Haifa and the sea. you have several marked walking trails that are extremely enjoyable. the best thing about this park is that most of the time it's not crowded at all. so if you are visiting in any time other than Israeli national holidays you get to experience nature at it's best. It's best to visit this place in the early spring. march till may would be perfect. in the summer time it can be too hot to walk outside and enjoy it.

Israel's largest national park, extending over most of the Carmel mountain range, and containing over 10,000 hectares of pine, eucalyptus, and cypress forest. The park has numerous bicycle and walking paths, dedicated nature reserves, and over 250 archaeological sites inhabited by prehistoric humans. The park is one of the largest open spaces of northern Israel. It is a typical example of a Mediterranean ecosystem, and includes a rich inventory of geological phenomena, prehistoric artefacts, biodiversity and landscapes. In 1996 it was recognised by UNESCO as a biosphere reserve.
