You can take a stroll to the whole old town of the city, named Ano Poli, which is located in the upper side. In the upper region of Ano Poli there are the Byzantine Walls (Kastra), while all this neightbourhood has a beautiful atmosphere with narrow paved alleys. You can also visit the Ancient Agora (the city centre during the Roman period) which is very close to Aristotelous Square. In this area there are also many spots to take a drink. You can go for a drink to "Nectar Distillery", a roof bar next to Aristotelous Square that is really nice. Finally you can go to the district of Ladadika where there are many spots to have a drink or a meal.

Ladadika is a district full of history, situated near the port, in the western part of the city. As reveals its name (in Greek, ladi means oil), it used to be a commercial base for storing and selling oil. However, the Great Fire of 1917 led to the downfall of the area. It was not until 1985 that it was rediscovered and redeveloped. Since then, it’s been one of Thessaloniki’s hot spots for entertainment and nightlife. Full of cafes, bars and restaurants, this is the part of the city that never sleeps. If you’re the type of person that wants to go straight to bed after a long night out, this is the place to stay! “Ya mas” (cheers in Greek) is a useful phrase to know if you decide to visit Ladadika!

One of the oldest and most graphic neighbourhoods of Thessaloniki. Most of the old shops there were turned to places where you can enjoy your beer or food. A must visit location especially around the evening.
