It's one of the main tourist attractions and a very pleasant place to visit also for locals / Finnish people :) Historic ruins and beautiful scenery. You can take a ferry from Kauppatori. Cost max 6€ one way.

The fortress of Suomenlinna is a UNESCO's World Heritage Site and located on a group of islands in Helsinki. Take the ferry from Kauppatori and enjoy the beautiful historical fortress and walk around the islands stone pavements which take you back in time. Have a nice picnic on the grassy shire-like hills on the southern side of the island or have a lunch or refreshing beverage in one of the local restaurants.

Suomenlinna Sea Fortress is a must see for anyone who visits Helsinki. Skip the costly tourist boats and use the HSL (Helsinki public transport) boat instead. You can buy tickets at the dock. It departs from Kauppatori, close to the Allas Sea Pool.
