The Portuguese arrived in Goa and began recreating their European lifestyle here. However, eventually, their sensibilities blended with the local culture, giving rise to a unique culture that is typically today’s Goa. The Museum is built as a traffic island in Torda, Salvador-do-Mundo Bardez Goa.

The Architect, Gerard de Cunha, creates a ship-like structure to house all the "goodness in Goan architecture" which would otherwise be lost. Like a modern-day Noah setting out with his special arch, the Museum takes you on an eventful voyage, showing you "Goa in the context of the world".
