Go for lunch for the very best home cooked meal and walk around to see the beautiful area and some animals. You can even pay for a tour to see the historic part of the museum.

Wander the settlement, farm, and museums to get a feel for the life of early smoky mountain settlers. Pet and feed the farm animals, browse the gift shop, and don’t miss a hearty helping of southern comfort food.

Food is freshly prepared daily with much of it coming from the three gardens on the museum property. The desserts are the best to be found. The apple cake with caramel icing and the humingbird cake are two of my favorites.

This is an amazing place to spend a few hours if you want to learn the history of Appalachia. They have many music and craft, and heritage festivals here too.

A bit of a drive but well worth it. The cafe has great food also.
