A lot more to do here than in Harrisonburg. Escape rooms, plush movie theaters with recliners and venues for large concerts are just some of the things to do. If you’d like recommendations on dinner options just contact us.

About 40 miles east of the mountain. Enjoy this historic and beautiful town… many great restaurants and shopping.

If you have some time on the way down or if you want to venture into town for a day, Charlottesville is only 45 minutes away from Wintergreen. The main part of downtown is pedestrian, and there are several bookstores worth exploring, not to mention many excellent restaurants and bars. My two favorite bookstores there are Daedalus and the Blue Whale. There are several breweries, including Starr Hill and Three Notched. The North American Sake Brewery and Restaurant has delicious Asian fare and sake, and if you are looking for a solid diner, I like the Nook.

If the purpose of your vacation is historical sight seeing then you owe it to yourself to spend the day driving south on Route 15 to Charlottesville to explore Albemarle County from Jefferson's Monitcello to the campus of the University of Virginia. The trip is scenic and avoids most of the Interstate choke points that make traveling into DC or Baltimore a little more challenging. And the destination is a must see for those visiting Frederick with an eye on the region's past.

This is a special place. It's physically very beautiful, nested in the lap of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It's famous for cultural events (Festival of the Book, Film Festival, etc), UVa, Monticello and other founding father's homes, a troubled history and attempts at healing that, breweries, distilleries and wineries- lots of people come here just to tour vineyards and drink wine or get married; the Appalacian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive are close by, and when Covid is done there will no doubt be a return of a diverse music scene.
