The Kitekite Falls are one of the most famous waterfalls in the Waitakere Ranges with six drops into a large lake-like pool at the bottom. The falls are reached by walking tracks at the end of Glen Esk Road.

Lovely walk through the bush ending at a waterfall with swimming hole - gentle walk - just a bit of a challenge at the end. Look for signposting right by RSA before you get to Piha beach

Kitekite is one of Auckland's best waterfalls. An easy, level, metalled track from the car park at the end of Glen Esk Road. The track follows the Glen Esk stream to the base of the waterfall, be sure to take the number of side tracks to the stream and check it out it's beautiful. The track takes you to the base of the Kitekite falls where you can picnic and swim in the pool right under the falling water! From the base of the waterfall take the track on the other side of the stream. Follow this until you reach a fork and take the track that goes uphill to make your way to the top of the falls for some truly amazing views.

The entrance to the Kitekite falls walking track is at the end of the road. The track is pretty popular and can get very busy in the weekends and public holidays. If you are going to walk it on one of these days, I’d highly recommend going early, enjoying the peace and avoiding the crowds. Once you are on the walk, the track splits and there are two ways you can approach. I’d recommend taking the track to the right (it’s a nicer way to approach as you get a really nice view of the falls). Then if you cross over the water fall pool, you can head back the other way. From that track you can choose to go to the top of the falls. There are some beautiful pools up there and a great view.
