The Mountain Gateway Museum and Heritage Center collects and preserves artifacts and other historical materials relating to the history and heritage of North Carolina in a local, regional, national, and international context to assist people in understanding how the past influences the present. It's a small museum but worth checking out if you're interested in local and NC history.

NC State museum, featuring western NC interpretive exhibits, hosting seasonal events including Pioneer Day in April. Each Sunday between 2pm and 4pm stop by for mountain music on the porch. Free admission!
