Museum and Gift Store The U'mista Cultural Society was incorporated under the British Columbia Societies Act on March 22, 1974. Since that time, it has worked towards fulfilling the mandate to ensure the survival of all aspects of cultural heritage of the Kwakwa̱ka̱ʼwakw.

To learn more about the cultural history of this coast, definitely visit this museum. It features an impressive sample of First Nation masks and artifacts that were reclaimed after being taken and sold to museums across the world. Take the time to understand the stories and history the museum shares with its visitors. Also visit the longhouse on Alert Bay for more cultural learning.

This is in Alert Bay. You need to take a ferry from Port McNeil. An amazing place to visit.
