You can hear the steam train from the meadow on the weekends! Back in time. Very peaceful way to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Connecticut river all season long. Romantic dinner ride for adults or Thomas the train special weekends or Polar Express entertainment in the winter for all.

You can do just the steam train, just the riverboat or both. Great activities for both adults and children including Thomas the Train around the holidays. Don't miss out on Rail biking. It's such a unique experience!

Essex Steam Train & Riverboat trips are a great way to tour the area. Might be a little too long for young kids, but check it out! They also have rail-bike tours! www.essexsteamtrain.com

Special train events. Thomas the train in the spring and Christmas Polar Express train ride during the winter. See web site for details and other programs. The boat ride part will travel up the Connecticut River to the historical Haddam Swing Bridge and Good speed Opera House. You will also see Gillette Castle. A beautiful trip during the fall season and you may even get to see a bald eagle.

The perfect way to see the CT Shoreline by train or by boat. They have rail trail bikes as well. A must see while you are here. A true gem!
