You cannot visit Metchosin without a trip to the café! Recently voted number 1 family restaurant in Victoria you will have an experience to remember. Due its popularity you cannot book tables and the wait time can be long but critters corner (a collection of goats, donkeys and chickens) will keep you entertained while you wait.
The main café is supplemented by My Chosen pizza, which is pick up or delivery. And also the Sugar Shack. Get prepared to get sugared up, it is well worth it. The cheesecake is famous.

The Broken Paddle café is open throughout the week for a good breakfast. You’ll also find a couple of small art galleries, a tennis court, mountain bike ramps (next to fire hall) and a riding ring.
On Sundays, May to October, there is a farmer’s market held just behind the Metchosin fire hall. It is well worth a visit to stock up on local produce.
On a Monday evening Molly’s British Fish and Chips food truck can be found on the Church parking lot next to the house. Highly recommended!

The trails immediately behind the house lead you to Sitting Lady Falls. The waterfalls are just a five minute walk. You reach the trails by turning immediately left as you leave the property. You will join the trail at the end of the parking lot. The hike to Witty’s Beach is about 1.5kms. The water is shallow and warm in the summer.

Devonian Park offers a trail system through the forest to the beach. There are picnic benches close to the parking lot too and a nice grassy area for playing soccer.

There is a trail running right around Matheson Lake. It’s a good hike. If you take your time it’s a couple of hours. There is a beach for swimming. An island in the middle of the lake is calling for a kayak and a picnic.

This is a challenging hike and includes many steep scrambles on rock face. Recommended for the more experienced hikers. The views from the top are stunning.

French Beach, beautiful beach with BBQ areas and play area. Just before French Beach is a village called Shirley. Stop to pick up lunch at Shirley Delicious (sandwiches, bowls and baked goods).
