Great places to go

This is an original harbour town which has beautiful walks along the local coast and great places to eat. It is one of my favourite places to spend and an afternoon wandering then finishing with something to eat.
This is a Cornish area of outstanding natural beauty with stunning beaches and great sunsets. There is a lovely little dog friendly cafe but it does get very busy. There is a seal beach on the opposite side to the lighthouse which is viewable from the cliffs above. In season you will find lots of lovely seals and pups there.

The gardens are absolutely amazing and overlook Mounts Bay and St Micheals Mount. The gardens were once owned by the monks who lived on the mount. The current owners have really brought the gardens back to life including having permanent sculptures and guest works. There is a fantastic cafe and an art gallery as well.

The harbour and between Upton Towans and Gwithian and Dog friendly all year. The other areas have seasonal daytime dog bans.

A local island access able when the ride is out for walking across and catching a boat when it is is. The island is lived on and has a beautiful house and gardens which you can visit with a cafe. Please look at their website for opening information as it is shut most Fridays and Saturdays and during some periods in the winter.

St Ives is a beautful town which became famous due to all the artists that moved here. The Light is lovely for painting, the Tate St Ives is here along with the Barbra Hepworth gardens along with many little galleries. There are lots of little galleries. The Leach Pottery Is worth a visit as it has an original exhibition of Bernard Leach's work areas, it is still a working pottery and there is a shop with work from the current potters available. There are lots of places to eat but have a look whats on the back streets for something different.

It’s a lovely walk along the river away from the crowds when the beaches are busy.

Tehidy Woods is peaceful and good for shady walks when it’s hot. There is also a theatre company Rogue Theatre which holds outdoors shows during the holidays at North Cliffs. It’s a must with children but I still love going as an adult. https://roguetheatre.co.uk/

To be honest I use Upton Towans beach. You can park up and walk across the sand dunes (Towans) to the beach. Especially with dogs as this part of the beach is dog friendly. It’s part of the coast path and the access to the beach is down from to dunes so be prepared to climb back up.

Sightseeing

The Lizard is stunning and very rural with absolutely amazing views, there are some places to eat but getting a pasty from Ann's Pasty shop is well worth the visit. There is also a lovely little cafe right down by the Lizard point. It is the UK's most southerly point and much prettier than Lands End.

This is a National Trust Beach near the lizard. The beach is dependant on the tide but it’s certainly a place to go and enjoy a sunny day.

Consejos para la ciudad

Facilidad para moverse por la casa

The tides here range between 0.5m and 7meters

Make sure you are not going to be stranded when the tides come in. Do not stand anywhere near the edge of paths when there is a storm with large waves you can easily be swept to sea.

Buses and Trains run regularly to and from Hayle

Always check the local website and information centres. Google is not always right down here. Buses do not run on Christmas or boxing day.
