Sightseeing

Sullivans Island is the best beach to go to. They have long straight and level boardwalks to get to the water. No fee for parking. Lots of restaurants with average food. With the heat… I like to go around five 6-7PM and enjoy the sunset (8:30pm). Sometimes, I will take a light picnic dinner out there. Really magical

There are lots of art & history museums downtown. A carriage tour might be a good idea as well.

A sunset Sailboat cruise in the Chas Harbor (google it- I think The Schooner Pride does one) ...those are magical & allows a break from the heat & gives a beautiful view of The Battery & downtown from the water. Only do the large sailboat. Not the larger 2 level boats that put a ton of people on them.

The Battery is located downtown Charleston on the Harbor. There is a sidewalk that is great for people walking or biking. There is also a grassy park area with old cannons. Fantastic views of the harbor and the historic buildings/ homes. This can also be seen via carriage tour or car. Great sunsets or early morning jogs.

Food scene

Downtown Dinners: The Ordinary (a bit noisy, upscale, seafood) Rooftop @ The Market Pavillion (great food, more casual, fantastic views - I wouldn’t eat downstairs/inside-a bit stuffy). Zero George: Very Southern, intimate, small restaurant (also serves as an Inn) The Peninsula Grill: very upscale, quiet, intimate dinner. Beautiful dining room- best food. Not for kids. Fleet Landing: great downtown harbor views, casual- good for families. LaFarfalle: Indoor & a pretty Outdoor courtyard seating, semi-casual. Incredible Italian food. Close to King Street (shopping) Magnolias: Classic Charleston restaurant. It’s been here for a long time. Great food all around. Lunch or dinner. (Fried Chkn, Shrimp N Grits, Salads etc..)

Shopping

King Street is the Charleston hot spot for Shopping! The Street is loaded with all types of stores from high end, local shops to antiques. I would suggest starting at The Charleston Place Hotel (high end stores located inside) & working your way down King Street for retail shopping (towards Calhoun Street) Go towards Broad St from the hotel for Antique Shopping. Enjoy!
