Tugela River Lodge: Rapids Cottage with Hot Tub

Tugela River Lodge is a pet friendly, self-catering Eco-Lodge, located on a private cattle and game farm on the banks of the Tugela River, near Winterton, KZN, South Africa. We run off solar and gas and invite guest to come and enjoy the quiet side of nature. Our lodge has access to many miles of trails for hiking, biking and running through our private game farm where one can get up close and personal with our resident giraffe. The sounds of the river are sure to put you to sleep at night!

Unit 1

Located only 3km straight off the N3 highway, it is perfectly situated on your way to the coast or back up to Gauteng/Freestate. You’ll love it because of the peaceful environment, the view of the dam with a massive lawn for kids to play. You can swim or you can fish or chip a few golf balls on the lawn. Ceiling fans and aircon for the warm nights and a big, under roof verandah. We unfortunately do not have wifi or TV's, we believe in talking to each other 😉 and that kids should play.

Glenside, an historic Drakensberg farmhouse

This gracious farmhouse situated on a working farm is over 100 years old. It is an ideal getaway for large families and friends. Explore the farmlands , veld and river on foot, cycle the tracks, discover the wildlife or simply enjoy the sweeping views of the Central Drakensberg from the wraparound verandah . The fireplaces in the lounge and dining room are ideal for cosy winter evenings indoors and the large fenced garden has both sunny and shady spots for daytime relaxing.

This spacious and modern two-bedroom home is fully equipped to make your stay a home away from home. Accommodation is Solar and WIFI friendly. Located 20 minutes from the central Drakensberg, the accommodation is situated in Winterton near various restaurants and within walking distance of local grocery stores. Local attractions include Spionkop Nature Reserve, Winterton Museum, Drakensberg Boys Choir School, home to Berg and Bush, Oxpecker trail run and Park Run Winterton.

A simple retreat situated in an artist's garden under the Drakensberg Mountains. Stay in a thatched rondavel with own shower and toilet, decorated with touches of South-African art and craft. Security is provided by our friendly dogs and an electric fence. WiFi is available. Activities in the area include hikes, cycling, rafting and The Drakensberg boys Choir, all within a 30-45 min drive. The nearest restaurant is in Winterton , 5 min away.

Nestled in the town of Winterton just below the Central Drakensberg is this lovely solar powered self catering cottage. King size bed (can be split into two 3/4 beds), WIFI, kitchen and undercover parking. Bathroom has a shower. A short drive away from a variety of sites, hikes and activities in the Berg. Coffee shops and restaurants within a few minutes drive. Please note: there is a private pool, for hosts only, that isn't fenced off..
