The Walker is a modern art museum with tons of programming for families and serious art buffs. It's a great inclement weather activity and the adjacent (free) sculpture garden is great when it's not raining or snowing.

The Walker is Minneapolis’ contemporary art museum. It also hosts an outdoor sculpture garden as well as mini golf in the warmer months. Don’t miss the iconic Cheery and Spoon!

For the best in contemporary art you'll have to travel to Minneapolis. They have a 3rd Thursday program with music and cocktails and all exhibits are free. Check out their first Saturday events and the films.
