Love the Museum. Great displays & information including indoor "working models" of equipment used related to Kauri logging etc. Also displays of houses/businesses. Not at all boring & something of interest for everyone. Has a shop to buy those touristy gifts.

You will need two hours to get the most out of your visit. Top class attraction with working models and fabulous displays. Gift shop available and cafe over the road

World class.museum right here in the Kaipara, honestly, it's that good. interesting to see what the local Dalmatian people, Maori amd early settlers went to to get the amber gold..Kauri gum..must do.

Matakohe - Beautifully displayed and very interesting and informative of early years of Kauri trees and kauri gum use...and living. 60km from home.
