Ortigia is the historical centre of the town of Siracusa. Definitely worth a visit.

Ortigia is a must-see, with its gorgeous cathedral, restaurants, piazzas, bars and little hidden alleys with the sea glinting at the end.

Ortigia Island is connected to the city of Syracuse by a bridge. We recommend a visit to the Fountain of Arethusa, the cathedral with perfectly preserved Doric columns inside, the Maniace Castle and the famous market. The island of Ortigia is teeming with small restaurants that offer tourists authentic, high-quality culinary experiences. The narrow streets of the island are also home to several shops selling handicraft goods.
