Iconic building, but you have to cross the river and walk for a short distance to reach here. Also good to know more about the history of Brooke govern in Sarawak.

We were once under the British rule. They left somethings behind. Worth going and see the view of the river and city from village side.

Fort Margherita was built in 1879 to guard Kuching’s river approaches from pirates. In the old days, a canon shot was fired from here every evening to mark the end of the government work day. Named after Charles Brooke’s wife, Ranee Margaret, it is a unmistakable landmark along Sarawak River. As the Fort is situated within the police training barracks, visitors may be asked for some form of ID.

The History of Brookes' family & the Kings, etc. It's set up sometime ago to accommodate our Sarawak Natural Museum which is now under renovation or building of the Olympic size Museum. From the Museum, the beautiful views of Kuching City can be seen.

Do visit in the evening for visiting Fort Magherita and spend your time at the waterfront for an unbelievable sight of the sunset. There is a botanical garden nearby, so laced up your best walking shoes to discover the area
