Sunday nights at this neighborhood hole-in-the-wall take you back to singing in your high school friend’s basement. People feel free to close their eyes and sing the songs nobody else loves the way they do. This place is proof that karaoke is cheap therapy. Try some early Cure, T. Rex, Big Star—the more weirdo or goth the better! One of the most memorable performances I’ve seen here was this awkward goth kid singing “Mad World,” by Tears for Fears. He had some bold dance moves and acted as though nobody else was in the room.

When Josh moved to L.A., he found a new home in some of the Eastside karaoke clubs, showing up so often that one even made him a resident karaoke host (or KJ). He remains an enthusiast (see the karaoke tattoo on his neck).

Epic neighborhood dive bar. The Drawing Room is an inadvertent throwback to the LA of 25+ years ago. They have drinks and a good juke box. It's not my favorite bar, but if you're into dive bars, or if you need to go to a bar at 6:00 AM, this is the place for you.
