Quite a bit of a drive, but truly scenic and an awesome place to hike.

A perfect break away for the day. Stunning mountain trails and hiking. Many people also go here to rock climb. There are rock pools you can swim in on a hot day.

Our chalet is named after the magnificent Tonquani Gorge. Experienced hikers can arrange a day pass through Mountain Club SA, otherwise I can assist for an inclusive fee of R75pp. Your day pass MUST BE PREARRANGED (No under-12) and we would appreciate being informed of your plans to hike, purely for safety's sake.

This is a great place for a day visit if you pair it with a ziplining tour (3km away) or a cable car ride up the mountain. You can make an overnight stay in a rustic log cabin or pitch a tent in a very special mountain range like the 2300 million year old Magaliesberg Mountain range,. This is a special place. The rock pools at this park, which is just a two hour drive from Joburg are the main reason to visit. There's a lovely swimming pool with a deck and beautiful views across the mountains, great place for sunset. 100% recommended ancient mountain range experience. Look out for the Klipspringers, weathered rocks and ancient shoreline ripple rocks.

One of the best ways to while away a day is swimming in the rock pools at mountain sanctuary park in the mountainous Magalies area. This 1000 hectare property has been open to the public for 37 years. See www.mountain-sanctuary.co.za.
