The Danube Island is a thin and long island in the Danube. It is 22 km long and there are a lot of trails for walking, hiking and cycling. You will also find spots for swimming, eating (barbecue) and relaxing. In summer there is the famous Danube Island Festival which is the bigges open air festival in europe and it is totally free!

The Donauinsel (Danube Island) is a long, narrow "Island" in central Vienna, lying between the Danube river and the parallel excavated channel Neue Donau ("New Danube"). The island is 21.1 km in length, but is only 70–120 m wide. The "Island" offers sports opportunities from rollerblading, cycling and swimming to canoeing as well as gastronomy and entertainment.

Great place to swim, rent a bout, have a drink etc...you can walk to the donauinsel, very beautiful, a must see in vienna!
