Merimbula

Lions Beach is nestled in between Pambula Beach and the Pambula River Mouth.
Rocks border its northern and southern entrances, making for great climbing and photography, with Lion Rock the king of them all. You can walk north from Pambula Beach to Merimbula (6km) or walk a few hundred metres around the rocks to the Pambula River Mouth.
This beach and its neighbours are enormously popular in summer, so be prepared to park the car on Coraki Drive and walk down through Lion Park. The park has a large shelter with benches, 4 free gas barbecues, 7 picnic tables, amenities, beachside shower and viewing platform – and it’s dog friendly.

An excellent track for walking with children, the 1.2km nature walk leads down into a lush gully of ferns and understorey species. Enjoy the shade provided by the dense lilly pilly canopy and keep an eye out for moss-covered rocks, vines and quirky-looking beetles as you explore.
As you walk, listen out for the wonderful stream of mimicked calls performed by the superb lyrebird or the whip-crack song of the eastern whipbird.
