I love this place. The food is great. If you are a sports fan the bar has lots of TV's. There are booths for quiet intimate meals. The staff is great with families. My favorite is the Caesar salad, but their burgers are famous too.

This restaurant is the closest one to my house. Their carry out is a great deal. Lots of food for a family. There is also golfing there. Dining in they have a great salad bar and their Tenderloin tips are delicious.

The Trempealeau Hotel is a great tourist visit. Check out a band on the weekend outside. You get to hear great music, watch the barges and trains go by as you gaze out at the Mississippi. They are the home of the Walnut Burger!!

These are locals that made a house into a cafe. Great for breakfast (which you can get all day) and right in the heart of Holmen. You can even get a beer or wine.

This place has a cabin feel to it. Big bar and live music on the weekends. Its down on the prairie on Lake Onalaska. A boat launch is off the bank. You can see fisherman going through. They also have sand volleyball courts.

This pizza is great. You have to pay for it and plan ahead because they are always busy and it usually takes an hour to get it delivered.
If you are in a hurry you can get it as a carry out in much shorter time.
It's worth it.

So much to do here. You can hike, get a drink/meal, attend a fest, take a river ride, attend an event: fests, runs, dancing, etc. , see a play, ice skate, rotary lights in December. This is a beautiful meeting place that still feels like a park. It always has people there, but it still is a park and you feel in touch with nature. Close to downtown and some great restaurants, shopping and fun activities.

This is a Prairie with trails through the tall grasses to a view of Lake Onalaska. The visitor center is really great and they have many activities all year long. Check their website to see what's going on.

You can access this trail from Riverside Park, or Myrick Park. It is a web that you can walk very far right through La Crosse, but feel like you are way out of town. Many locals walk during their lunch or take their dogs in the evening. It's something the locals know about. There's a Visitor Center at Myrick Park that can give you directions. It's entrance is misleading. It looks like it doesn't go far, but it does. Well paved, so the walking is easier.

This park is for hiking!! I've also encountered many fat tire bike enthusiasts. It s a narrow, winding path up the bluff with spectacular views as your reward. I haven't been on all the trails, but take some time, bring water and a snack.

If you want to see the Mississippi Valley and you don't want to hike far to do it, this is the way to go. If you want to see the Mississippi Valley and you don't want to hike far to do it, this is the way to go. Drive up the bluff, park and walk out to a beautiful view of the Mississippi Valley all the way over to the Bluffs of Minnesota. Picnic spots and shelters and some hiking. Mostly its a look out.
The bike trail system around the area is great. There are trails from here to Madison WI.

The entrance to this hike is close to my house. Locals are working all the time to maintain these bridges and preserve them. Great place to hike, and take pictures and see beautiful nature. Quiet and peaceful.
