Food Scene

Zac's Place is a mixed general store where you can get shopping supplies, alcohol, takeaway hot food, coffee or sit down and eat at the restaurant of a night. It is run by one of the local fishermen and his wife - so they seafood is always good and they often have fresh local fish available. You can get enough supplies from here for the weekend if you don't feel like venturing out of Currarong. If you eat at the restaurant the seafood platter is great value and highly recommended. 3 can easily share one. The restaurant is byo, and you can buy wine next door. The takeaway hamburgers are great as well, we often get them for lunch.

Great seafood, downstairs is open for lunch - seafood baskets, fish & chips. Upstairs is open for dinner where you can get some great classics. You must try the local oysters which are amazing and if you ring a day before you might be able to get a fresh lobster. There is a nice park nearby for the kids to run.

Entertainment & Activities

Currarong Bowlo has a great old fashioned Chinese restaurant. Its the same as the one many of us grew up with. Specialising in classic favourites like Prawn Omelettes, Sizzling Beef and Mongolian Lamb. It is good value and family friendly. There is lots of space for groups and the food is reliable and quick. You can also drink at Bowling Club prices. The club has live music events throughout the year. So its worthwhile checking out their events calendar. It's great to spend a few hours in the afternoon playing bare foot bowls. They also have a full sized pool table. If you join for $5 you get 50c off each drink! There is also a booze bus which gets you home after 8pm.

Sightseeing

Great walking track, starts about 400m from the house. The Wreck Walk - a 2.5 kilometre return walk that takes a leisurely one hour, its an easy wide walk and takes in the site of the wreck of the S.S. Merimbula which ran aground at 1am on March 27, 1928. Highly recommended is a swim or Snorkel at Honeysuckle Point, a small beautiful beach. The second is The Trig Walk - which includes the Wreck Walk, is a hillier walk of 9 kms/3hours. Both walks feature coastal seascape scenery of beaches, estuaries, ocean, rock formations, massive sandstone cliffs and headlands.
