Food Scene

Little yet fantastic Portuguese food, served with joy and prepared by the excellent cook's hands (wife and husband) who really know what they are doing. Must try their soup (Caldo Verde)!

A Travessa is special in every aspect: the food, the place (inside the old convent), the presentation of a meal and atmosphere. A must go - but a little expensive! I leave the details to your own discovery...

Nice combination of african and portuguese dishes, in a cozy, intimate and friendly environment. In a way it feels like being part of this neighbourbood.

Is a simple café, but they make their own delicious pastry and we are served by the lovely and discrete team. Is also where the most traditional residents go for their morning and afternoon coffees or a bit of gossip update!

This was one day a Butter Factory, later it was a beautiful boutique called Comptoir Sud Pacifique, and now gave birth to the most wonderful Pasteis de Nata in the world! Whatever you do in Lisboa, do find time to stop there and try one. They are open until late night, and everytime a batch of fresh backed Pasteis is ready, they come out and ring the bell. I wish I could eat one every day... :-)

Arts & Culture

Probably the best Museum of Art History/Ancient Art in Lisbon and Portugal is 5 minutes from us, and a fantastic way to discover the Portuguese Art and Cultural Roots. Then there is a Café and Restaurant and Garden, which is one of my favorite places at the area (serving a mix of "Portuguese traditional and healthy dishes, which we can take out to the fabulous garden. We don't need to pay the Museum fee to access the garden and Restaurant. WiFi is provided, and honestly... don't know a better place to work, think, eat and relax with fantastic views!)

Shopping

This small but full of character little street is a great place of discovery, all small shops and local projects, is pulsing with creative energy, tradition and authentic people and things! is also the best way to go to Chiado, which is the next best place to explore (after Santos and Misericordia!)

Is a super nice concept store, mainly design and furniture, some art and prints, and much more. Sometimes Filipa Lacerda, the interior designer and owner of the shop is there, and she is a really nice person to chat and meet!

Parks & Nature

It's more a great Garden then a Park, but truly a beautiful one, for it's nature, history and concept - it could be French but is very very Lisboeta (i.e. a place for Lisbon residents), but is beyond it. For a walk, for sunshine, for watching birds, trees, people, and children playing, for a coffee with friends, sometimes for live music or a crafts and design little market... in the Summer there is even an open sky cinema week!I love going there whenever I have a couple hours free, and is 30min walk from home (up the hill!)

Everything Else

This is a magic place, built inside of an old printer estate (which was falling apart!) LX Factory invited creatives of all types to move in... and then new shops, cafes, services, and innovative businesses started to flourish. The bookstore Livaria Ler Devagar is a great place to start exploring this place. Then shops vary from Design to Surf like Lisbon Crooks and Surfers, and much much more. It is easy to fall in love with this place!
