Amazing restaurant in an old Queenslander house on acerage in an amazing location in the lush hinterland near Mount Warning. This restaurant is something you'll never find in a big city! Kids love wandering around the huge veggie gardens. Great lunch trip from Kingscliff. About 30 minute beautiful drive along the Tweed River past the sugar cane fields and the riverside towns of Tumbulgum and Murwillumbah. Reserve a table!!!

Sightseeing

Easy 15 minute walk to the lighthouse and headland. Look over to Cook Island, look down at the giants causeway. Walk to the southern end and look over Dreamtime Beach. Really beautiful spot. You will nearly always spot a pod of dolphins swimming past the headland. Best in the morning, followed up with a coffee and pancakes at the SheOak Shack which is 2 minutes down the road from the carpark.

An amazing lookout. It's basically as good as climbing to the top of Mount Warning, but it's an easy drive to the top, then an awesome 10 minute rainforest walk on a bitumen path which is kid friendly and even pram friendly. Do a day trip (maybe 4 hours total) by driving up the freeway, then turn off at Mudgeeraba and stop along the way at the Natural Bridge then several waterfalls, then continue via Murwillumbah and Tumbulgum to get back to Kingscliff along the Tweed River. Really beautiful and lush part of the world, especially if you're from a big city...

Good place to visit for a home made tropical fruit icecream and a look around at the tropical fruit shop with other touristy stuff. Has a little playground for the under 10 year olds. If you want to stay for a few hours, do the tractor tour of the farm to see and taste all the tropical fruits. On the tour you stop for mini train rides, flying fox, put put golf, boat ride, pat and feed farm animals and Australian animals.

Parks & Nature

*CURRENTLY CLOSED TO HIKERS*** Climb to the summit of Mount Warning. Not too hard, but require medium fitness. Not for young kids under about 12 unless they're decent hikers, as you can't carry them. Takes something like 2 hours up and 1.5 hours back. Amazing lookouts from the top. The last 10 minute section is the tougher bit, very steep on rock surfaces with a chain to help you get up. In summer leave at or before sunrise, as it gets too hot in the middle of the day. I generally leave Kingscliff at about 5am to go up and we're back in Kingscliff by about 10am ready for a swim at the beach! In winter it can be COLD at the top.
