Sightseeing

Life and agriculture in the Phoenix Valley are supported by a system of nine canals that span well over 100 miles across multiple cities in the area. Our original canals were built by the ancient Hohokam native Americans, and used for much the same purpose that ours are today. The current canals have been built over the past 100+ years by early settlers, the federal government, and even World War II prisoners of war. The Consolidated Canal is very nearby, and like most of the others, it great for a variety of recreational activities including jogging, bike riding, fishing, and more. -- http://www.srpnet.com/water/canals/history.aspx
