Step outside my front door and enjoy the park next to my home. There is a kids playground and many easy hiking trails that wonder through the forest. They are well marked and circular. If you start a trail it will eventually bring you back to a similar spot you began. Good reception in their will allow you to use your phone for maps although the small trails aren’t on the map, you will at least be able to see how far you are from my street if you are winding through the forest and wondering how far or what direction to get back home. This is a rock climbing meca. You will see climbers out on any dry day. It’s a friendly neighbourhood and everyone on the trail is helpful and welcoming. Jogging shoes are fine but expect to get them a bit muddy if wet.

This is near the Gondola. Hike the huge granite monolith that shadows Squamish from the south. The hiker route is well marked and has wooden stairs that make the path accessible to anyone who is comfortable hiking a steep hill. This hike is great for a family who are very active and relatively fit, but who still want the convenience of walking an established trail. I have friends who bring their 6 year old to hike this but it is a really big day for that age. Mostly this hike is suited to older ages and I don’t recommend it for anyone who has difficulty hiking because it is very long and steep. While mostly stairs in the technical sections, it can be very tiring for someone who has difficulty hiking or doing cardio fitness activities. The good thing is you can always go up as far as you like at your own pace and turn around anywhere and get back down the same way up. The Forrest is beautiful and makes the hike so worthwhile irrespective of if you summit or not. Summit views are amazing. Note the Sea To Sky Gondola (near the Chief hike) offers a similar view and does not require hiking.
