Anexartisias street is – without a doubt – Limassol’s most popular shopping destination. Originally built in 1917 and home to hundreds of shops, the street stretches from the seafront promenade all the way to the city centre. The word Anexartisias is translated into Independence in Greek, and although the street was formerly known as Macedonias, it later got its name after the declaration of independence of the Republic of Cyprus back in 1960. Whether you want to wander around the street, shop your favourite Cypriot goodies from family-run shops, or enjoy a coffee at a cosy café, Anexartisias Street will give you a little more of an insight into the culture of Cypriot people

The water falls vehemently eight meters down and “forms a small lake”. The bubbly water runs on the “hard volcanic rocks of gabbro” that filled “with tiny velvet mosses”, while “ivy has embraced the trunks of plantans”. The waterfall fills all visitors with unique feelings! The magnificence of these feelings bestowed upon the visitor by the waterfall is indicated in a text found in the Archive of the Community Council. Explicitly, “while the water falls with its peculiar humming, within this beautiful mountainous landscape, it overwhelms you. You can effortlessly feel the mind resting and reviving. You can also feel an attraction to stay as long as possible and view this site. One can not help but think how this could be appreciated by more people with just a few alterations”. The foundations of an old watermill that possibly operated at the beginning of the 20th century are located near the waterfall. Chantara means a Scale or "weighing machine". The waterfall is not the highest or the biggest in Cyprus, but definitely it is the most beautiful.

One of the most important sanctuaries of ancient Cyprus The sanctuary is located about 2,5 kilometres west of the ancient town of Kourion. It was one of the main religious centres of ancient Cyprus, where Apollo was worshipped as god of the woodlands. It seems that the worship of Apollo on this site began as early as the 8th century B.C. and continued until the 4th century A.D. The majority of the monuments as they can be seen today belong to the site's 1st century AD restorations. A wall from which one could enter the site via the Kourion Gate and the Pafos Gate surrounds the sanctuary. Originally the site consisted of a temple, traces of which survive in the foundations of the present temple, a circular monument which was probably destined for processions or dances around a grove of sacred trees and a formalized Archaic Altar and Precinct.

One of the most famous and picturesque wine villages of Cyprus! Full of beautiful traditional houses and other interesting buildings. Omodos village has maintained its typical Cypriot tradition alive. Arriving at Omodos it is worth visiting the chapel of the Apostle Philip, which is the oldest of all the chapels in Omodos and it is located in the ‘Pente Litharia’ area of the village. It is speculated that in ancient times this chapel was once an altar to the Greek god Apollo, this is because there is a large ancient laurel tree next to the chapel. It is worth mentioning that this chapel was renovated in 1773. The Monastery of the Holy Cross, stands in the centre of the village and it is one of the oldest and most historic monasteries of the island. There are museums built in the renovated halls within the Monastery.
