The Area

Brian Head is beautifully situated among the dense forests and lofty peaks of the Markagunt Plateau. At 9,850 feet, it is the highest municipality in Utah. Winter visitors come for the skiing at Brian Head Ski Resort. Summer visitors come for the beautiful high country scenery of the Markagunt Plateau (including Cedar Breaks National Monument) and the lift-facilitated hiking and biking trails at the summer ski resort. Summers are also a perfect time to explore the mountains via one of several gorgeous scenic drives, including Highway 143 itself. Recreational services in town are easily found, from ATV to snowmobile rentals. Those out for a more sedate kind of relaxation will discover day spas. Eateries range from cafes to grills and steak houses and lodging tends to be in fine alpine lodges.
