Founded in 1977 by Ila Loetscher, better known as The Turtle Lady, the organization has dedicated itself to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of sea turtles. Sea Turtle Inc. is instrumental in bringing back the Kemps Ridley Sea turtle from the brink of extinction. April through November is sea turtle nesting season on South Padre Island. Sea Turtle Inc. identifies these nests and moves them to a safe compound until hatched. There are dozens of scheduled releases during the summer months. There is no better way to teach your children the importance of protecting sea life than to attend a release and watch as tiny sea turtles enter the ocean for the first time! Bring the whole family to Sea Turtle Inc. and get a hands-on experience with these fascinating creatures.
