This is one of our favorite places for having breakfast. It ́s located in a little side street in Ubud. Close to the center. So it is like 15 min by scooter from the Origami house. If you like coffee, you *HAVE* to go to this place. They take coffee very seriously here. They do cocktails too at night and their espresso martini is the best thing. But the best news is, that since Summer 2017 they got another Seniman Coffee Studio just 2 min (by scooter) away from our house. So you got 2 choices now and obviously, the one closer to our house saves a lot of time :)

Alex never tells who it actually was, but rumors has it that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt went there and other people of their likes. That ́s why it got a bit „famous“ as well. Not sure about that. We just know that we love their cause and most importantly: the food is good.

This is probably the most famous vegan place in Ubud. It ́s run by our good friend James. He is one of our neighbors in our little community. It has some super delicious vegan chocolate. Worth checking out.

Okay, this baby here is a classic in Ubud. :) You can ́t do too much wrong with this place. It ́s probably one of the longest existing restaurants in the Ubud area. The reason that it is still here and always very well visited proves that it ́s good. I can recommend the breakfast, but also dinner in the evening time. They also deliver if you call them. If they don ́t deliver for whatever reasons to our house (sometimes they don ́t deliver) then you can also use the app Go-Jek.

Okay, this place here is the ultimate tip from us. Here in Germany, this would be a Michelin Star awarded restaurant. We liked it better than most of the „Michelin Star“ awarded restaurants we ate in so far. The only problem is: you have to wait for a table between 4-6 weeks. So you would have to order way ahead of time. BUT: the trick is to go there for lunch. Its exactly the same food (bring some time, though), only not in the night time. But who cares? We think we paid like 70,- Euro per head at the end. But it was totally worth it.

Its similar to Naugthy Nuris but 1/3 of its size! The menu is hand written on a piece of cardboard and we had some of the best Bali food there. So cheap too, I think our total bill was 720K and that was between 7 people and we all had at least 3 dishes each and heaps of drinks!
Great place to get various of Balinese food! The foods are great, no doubt. Note: This place is very busy for dinner at 8 pm above.

Super nice place to chill by the enormous pool with a nice view on a piece of rain forest. You can have some burgers there, chill at the pool and listen to some (mostly) electronic music.

Talking about beaches. If you guys surf or just want to go to the beach real quick, then we would totally recommend Komune Beach Club. From our Penjiwaan Community it ́s just a 22 min ride. It is way faster than if you ́d have to go from Ubud center because we are already located closer to the beach. There are sometimes some pretty crazy waves. Sometimes not. But so or so, you should always watch out going swimming there.

From our Penjiwaan Community it ́s just a 22 min ride. It is way faster than if you ́d have to go from Ubud center because we are already located closer to the beach. There are sometimes some pretty crazy waves. Sometimes not. But so or so, you should always watch out going swimming there.
An easily overlooked restaurant however one of Ubud’s top offerings. The view is incredible and the menu has offerings unlike most other restaurants in town. The gnocchi is delicious as are the mocktails.

We also did a day trip to Nusa Penida Island and got to see all the hot Instagram spots. We never managed to stay there for a night and explore this island a bit further! But many of our friends did.

That the complex is actually a spring sanctuary, you can see from the bathing pools in front of the entrance to the cave.

It is basically an app that helps you find scooter drivers that basically do whatever you need them to do. Super inexpensive. You can tell them to go to a certain restaurant for you, order whatever you like. They pick it up for you, pay the money for you and you pay them their fee and whatever they spent for you, once they arrive at the house to deliver. It ́s super convenient. Ask our Housemanager if you need help using it.
