Sauvie Island is one of my favorite places in the Portland area. It is the most lovely escape from the city. Only a 20 minute drive outside Portland and you're on this rural, magical island. Tons of farms to enjoy fresh produce, u-pick, awesome beaches to hang out on and swim, Kruger's Farm has live music concerts every Thursday evening during the summer as well ($15 per car). One of my favorite plant nursery's is on Sauvie island too! It's called Cistus Nursery and it is pure magic. It feels like you've walked into the tropics with all the unique species of plants and the humid, balmy climate they are able to create with all their beautiful green houses.

A ceramic work of art, this heated pool is located in a private outdoor courtyard surrounded by gardens. It almost feels like you're somewhere tropical. The pool is warm and filled with chlorinated saltwater. Plus, it's only $5 per person! There are several restaurants in the Kennedy school as well so you can grab a bite to eat after a nice long soak. Very kid-friendly too! Open to families after 11:00am. We love to take our girls.
