The Pilatus is Lucerne's mountain. We recommend the "golden tour" which is going on top with the gondola, go down by the steepest rack railway in Europe and return to the city with the boat.

Especially in winter time the mountain Pilatus can be closed. Then you should visit the Rigi. It's not as high but still very nice. Distance from the apartment by train: 50 minutes

If you have a car we suggest making a half day trip: Lucerne, Meiringen (Aareschlucht) and up the mountains to the Susten Pass. You will see most things in half a day / one day depending on your speed

A nice destination for a 2h cruise on lake Lucerne. You start at Lucerne main station when leaving the bus. In Weggis you get of and enjoy the town and restaurants. Then you return to Lucerne.
