About 10 miles south of town but so worth it. Drive is stunning and the trails around Oswald West (aka Short Sands) are great. Don't miss the Cape Falcon hike or just the easy stroll to this secluded beach. Popular surf break great for kids.

In my opinion one of the best places for a sandwich in town. Full menu with lunch and dinner on weekends and summer. Live music some nights. Doug the owner puts out great food.

Almost right out the front door of Whispering Dunes, great coffee, great baked goods and great staff. I have to control the amount I visit Insomina it is so convenient and good.

But it is the locals nightlife scene, open the latest of anyplace in town by far (most close around 10pm) and great drinks and fun times. 1 block from Whispering Dunes...which is helpful after a couple Driftwood drinks.
