The Vermont Pub & Brewery is Vermont’s original Brew Pub and premier local experience founded by the late, renowned craft brewing pioneer and author Greg Noonan in 1988. It is the longest running craft brewery in Vermont, serving a full menu and brewing over 80 styles of beer each year thanks to the small 14 barrel brewhouse augmented by a half-barrel experimental system. VPB partners with over 20 local businesses ranging from artisan cheese makers to chocolatiers to bakeries and beyond. They are famous for a reason: Quality. “Rich with heritage and being the oldest microbrew in Vermont speaks for itself,” writes Shannon Smith of www.associatedcontent.com. “The Vermont Pub and Brewery is alway coming up with new formulas to make better beer and they have accomplished this repeatedly…You are encouraged the next time you visit Burlington Vermont to sit down in The Vermont Pub and Brewery and order a plate of Fish and Chips and ask your server to pick a beer to complement them. You will not be disappointed.”

One of the distinguishing elements of beers at Zero Gravity is adherence to the qualities of the classic beer styles that make those beers great. This includes use of the best malt and hops, applying painstaking attention to technique and recipe, maturing the beers to full completion, and striving for internal balance above all. This mode—call it an unwavering commitment to the level of quality found in the great beers of the world—is not at odds with experimental brewing. It quietly underpins the work of the best creative breweries of America, and is the foundation our beers are built on. The Pine Street brew staff comprises Brewmaster Paul Sayler and Head of Production Justin McCarthy, with Flatbread Head Brewer Destiny Saxon stopping by from time to time.

Kenny Richards, owner and founder of Halyard Brewing Company, was working towards his PhD in Religious Studies when he ran across an old recipe for alcoholic ginger beer. He was excited by the idea of reviving this forgotten beverage and started tinkering at home. After a lot of research and trial and error, he developed a recipe he really liked, and Halyard Brewing Company was born. They have worked hard to rediscover the lost craft of brewing alcoholic ginger beer and pay homage to the ginger beer of America’s past, while innovating with new techniques and flavors. All of their ginger beers are made with organic and fair trade ingredients and are naturally fermented, gluten free alcoholic beverages that can be enjoyed on their own, on ice with a squeeze of lime or in a hand fashioned cocktail

Justin Heilenbach, Bryan Holmes and Kris Nelson founded Citizen Cider in 2010 on a hunch and some good old-fashioned hard work. Kris was working as a wine salesmen, Bryan as a chemist and Justin as a small farmer. All discontent for one reason or another, they started pressing sweet cider in Kris’s barn and fermenting test batches of hard cider in Bryan’s basement. As it happens, they discovered that their ideas about hard cider translated into some pretty unique and interesting finished products.

Weird Window Brewing opened its doors on July 18, 2020. The brewery is owned and operated by Jack and Emily Droppa, residents of South Burlington, VT. Jack manages the brewing operation and Emily manages the taproom, merchandise, and events. The team at Weird Window Brewing strives to deliver an approachable and diverse selection of beers. Instead of just focusing on one style of beer, the hope of Weird Window Brewing is to have a beer for everyone who visits the taproom. The taproom holds up to forty five guests with up to ten beers on tap, including a rotating selection of Pale Ales, IPAs, Lagers, Brown Ales, Red Ales, and Stouts. Weird Window Brewing has a three barrel pilot system and a fifteen barrel production system. The brewhouse is customized so that both of the systems are on the same brew deck. In addition to the three barrel and the fifteen barrel fermenters, Weird Window Brewing also has a seven barrel lagering tank, which makes it possible to brew and age lagers in the traditional way. All of the brewing and cellaring equipment was purchased from Alpha Brewing Operations in Lincoln, NE. Why Weird Window Brewing? The name of the brewery comes from the slanted windows located throughout the Vermont and the New England areas. The windows are called “Vermont Windows,” “Crooked Windows,” “Witch Windows,” and even “Coffin Windows.” The windows are commonly found on old farmhouses in rural Vermont. Jack and Emily started to call the windows “Weird Windows “and, well, it just stuck. Jack and Emily like the story behind the windows and the connection to Vermont, so, why not Weird Window Brewing!

rost Beer Works is a small microbrewery in Hinesburg, Vermont. Beer is our passion. We are committed to using high quality raw materials and effective brewery processes to produce flavorful, well-balanced beers. The beers we make are the beers we like to drink. Many consider hoppy to be synonymous with bitter, when in truth, hops can contribute much more to beer than just bitterness. Our intention is to craft balanced beers with low, restrained bitterness that showcase the aromas and soft flavors hops can produce. Think tropical and citrus characteristics; specifically, elements of pineapple, papaya, passionfruit, mango, peach, orange, and grapefruit. We encourage everyone from hardcore craft beer enthusiasts to curious newcomers to discover our flavorful, balanced, and delicious approach to hoppy beers. We hope that you join us by raising a fresh glass of Frost in good company. Cheers!

Brewmaster Will Gilson managed the renovation and installation of the Brewery in 2012, coming with 20 years of diverse brewing experience. During this time, he has created his own faithful following as a true craftsman. After college, his passions for deep powder skiing, playing music and brewing beer took him straight to Utah, and he soon found his true calling. After gaining experience, Will went to Jackson, Wyoming where his beer received multiple medals from the GABF. His last tenure was as founding brewer of Moat Mountain Brewing Company in New Hampshire’s White Mountains. Will has been concocting brews of all varieties professionally since 1995, with a love for all beer styles. Located on the Mountain Road in Stowe! On tap, you will find lagers from straw golden to big and malty; ales that are intensely quaffable; double IPA’s, Belgian influenced ales, very limited seasonal experiments, and Will’s famous New England specialty, classic Bavarian weizens. Always walking the line of balance between malt and hops. Join us inside of our legendary pub where you can get a close up look at our copper, state of the art brewhouse, and see the art and science that goes into every batch. Even though we are a small, artisanal brewery, our beer offerings are as diverse as the three different yeast strains we maintain in house. Get started with our six-sample “Brew-ski” to taste our classic draft lineup, or go for all eight. Brewery tours are available by reservation or by chance. 22 ounce bottles & growlers are available to go and kegs are available with advance notice. Look for our beer available in your favorite store or restaurant! It is in limited supply, but you will always find it right here at our flagship brewpub and restaurant.

Black Flannel Brewing Company opened on July 1, 2020. With plenty of safely spaced indoor and outdoor seating in our 3 indoor sections and 2 outdoor spaces, there are many opportunities to join us for great custom crafted beer, food, and spirits. With 4 of Vermont’s 17 Certified Cicerone’s comprising the brew staff, Black Flannel focuses heavily on quality and education. Our brewers are rooted in tradition but not shackled by it, Black Flannel produces true representations of classic beer styles (both ale and lager), but also love coloring outside the lines (pastry stouts, sours, barrel aged anything and everything). Our vision is clear: celebrate true passionate expressions of craft. Our strategy is simple: gather a group of people who have talent and passion for their respective crafts, and deliver a unique experience to our local community. We are the only Vermont Brewery with an on-site sister Distillery. Executive Chef Christian Kruse (formerly of Basin Harbor Club, Vergennes Laundry, and 2016 Vermont Chef of the Year) has designed and executed an ever expanding and rotating menu of elevated pub food and so much more inspired by his heritage.

We operate a tasting room selling beer by the glass, sampler flights, canned beers, and growler fills. Drop-In Brewery is also the Brewing home of the American Brewers Guild Brewing School (www.abgbrew.com) which is also owned and operated by Steve Parkes. Steve is an industry figure with a national and international reputation. He holds a degree in brewing science from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh Scotland and has brewed professionally continuously since graduating in 1982. He started the first microbrewery in Maryland back in 1988. He has been a regular speaker on the National Craft Brewers Conference and National Brewpub Conference stage. He is a Great American Beer Festival, and World Beer Cup judge. He has hosted the Institute of Brewing Studies “Ask the Expert” Q & A forum and is a former member of the IBS troubleshooting committee, and National Board of Advisors. He was technical editor of the highly successful Brewpub magazine, and contributing columnist to American Brewer Magazine, and All About Beer magazine. He has contributed material to two brewing science textbooks, including the chapter on brewhouse practices to the Master Brewers Association of the Americas book Practical Handbook for the Specialty Brewer Vol 1, and provided several entries to the Oxford Companion to Beer including the entry for The Brewing process. He has served as a technical editor on several textbooks published by the Brewers Association. He has served as chairman of the Northern California Section of the Master Brewers Association of the Americas, and Technical chair in California and New England. The Ronn Owens FM radio show hosted Steve twice a year as their featured beer expert guest. In 2009, Steve was awarded the Russell Schehrer award by the Brewers Association for Innovation in Craft Brewing, the industry equivalent of a “Hall of Fame”. He was recently interviewed to be a part of a documentation of the history of Craft brewing in America. The brewery he has built is a showcase of science and technology. A 15 bbl brewing system, with a mill and high pressure steam boiler, makes the wort. Four fermenters and a properly designed system to maintain and store healthy yeast make sure the beer is superbly made. The small brewery owns its own canning line. But the biggest advantage is the well equipped laboratory that is used to guarantee quality. You can stand in one place and see the whole brewery but if the brewer is there the door is always open.

Located at the heart of the Green Mountains, they have the unique pleasure of serving handcrafted beers along side homemade food that is fresh and creative. Their brewmaster uses high quality grains, hops and yeast strains to create up to a dozen true to style beers. In the kitchen, they work hard to bring consistency and quality to the table. They focus on local ingredients to enhance creative comfort food. The Bobcat Cafe and Brewery opened in 2002 as a community supported business designed to be a “third place” (a social retreat or meeting space away from home and work). Today they continue to support the community by hosting Wednesday night benefit dinners and by providing a comfortable and fun spot where neighbors and friends can meet up and enjoy a beer and a meal together.

In 2014 co-owner and brew master Dan Fitzgerald, who has been brewing beer for nearly 10 years, invited his brother David to an all grains brewing class. After attending the class the pair would get together a few times a month to make beer, cook food, and reminisce about their youth growing up on the historic Mill River in Georgia, VT. Friends and family would congregate to sample their batches of beer and enjoy home cooked food. The response to their passion for brewing and cooking along with their ever-welcoming sense of community was bigger than they expected. Feeling they needed a bigger platform led them to create Mill River Brewing BBQ & Smokehouse! Mill River Brewing prides itself in being veteran and female owned. We aspire to use VT grown hops and strive to support local producers in both our brewery and smokehouse.

Over the course of many visits to Austria, Johannes von Trapp, the youngest son of Maria and the Baron, gained an appreciation for the crisp, clean Austrian lager beers. When the craft beer movement in the United States gained momentum in the early 1990s, there was a noticeable lack of focus on lagers. It’s not surprising, considering that lagers are more challenging to brew, take longer to mature, and are therefore more expensive to create. For two decades Johannes dreamed of building an Austrian-style brewery at the Trapp Family Lodge, and in 2010 that dream came to fruition. A humble brewery with capacity for 2,000 barrels per year attracted attention under the name Trapp Lager, and the brewery received requests from all over the United States. The von Trapp family, who had always been reticent to commercialize their family heritage, realized that they had a product deserving of the family name. The new facility, completed in 2015 under the name von Trapp Brewing, allowed the family to expand beyond their home territory and spread the gospel of craft lagers.
