Sightseeing

See the night sky in all its glory without the light penetration from the urban core.  Meteor Showers, the Milky Way and various Constellations all present themselves in this rugged and protected location.  Be sure to see the area and hike the trails during the day too!  From the Torrance Barrens Dark Sky Preserve, it’s possible to view numerous stars, constellations, and planets. You’ll be able to see the Milk Way Galaxy, visible to the naked eye, without any equipment. Through a telescope (and quite possibly seen in the distance without one), you can spot the Andromeda Galaxy, which is two million light years away. On occasion, you can see the Northern Lights here, too! https://www.discovermuskoka.ca/things-to-do/hiking-trails/torrance-barrenshttps://www.discovermuskoka.ca/things-to-do/hiking-trails/torrance-barrens/

45 minutes drive from the cottage. Arrowhead’s winter offerings are well-known across Ontario, and for good reason – there’s nowhere better to go to experience cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, tubing, ice fishing, and skating through the forest, all in one spot. On fire and Ice nights go skating under the light of hundreds of tiki torches.
