Almost every town on the island has a market usually from 8am - 2pm. You will find many stalls selling fresh local grown fruit and vegetable as well as hams and cheese, leather goods, ceramics, linen, watches clothes and souvenirs. Remember to haggle to get the best price! Monday: Manacor, Calvia, Montuiri. Tuesday: Alcudia, Arta, Campanet, Can Picafort, Llubi. Wednesday: Puerto Pollensa, Santanyi, Sineu, Andraitx, Capdepera. Thursday: Inca, Arenal. Friday: Can Picafort, Llucmajor, Binissalem, Maria. Saturday: Palma, Campos, Campanet, Soller. Sunday: Pollensa, Sa Pobla, Alcudia.

Mallorca is a land of good wines. The island’s wine-making tradition started when the Romans came to the island in the year 123 BC and brought vines to Alcúdia and the rest of the island. This tradition has over lived until now. Hundreds of hectares are at the present time dedicated to winegrowing. This fact vouches for Majorcan wine growers. These figures are constantly growing and so does the number of wines. Almost all of them use local varieties such as moll, macabeo and parellada in white wines and manto negro, callet, tempranillo and monastrell in red wines.

As you might expect, Palma is a Mecca for anyone that enjoys shopping at its best, and it has by far the best shopping on the island. There are a huge variety of shops within the city, with prices to suit all budgets. Avenida Jaime III, Via Sindicato, Via Roma or Plaza Mayor are some of the streets to find great shops.

This custom also exists in Alcúdia but it’s slightly different. The traditional Majorcan tapas can be seen in some bars displayed on the counter. They’re traditional dishes like frit mallorquí, pork loin with mushrooms, tumbet, trempó, pica-pica, mushrooms, snails, llengua amb tàperes... They’re served in different portions. If you can’t choose one, then why not trying them all by asking for a variat (assorted dish), which is an assorted dish where you can combine those you feel like. This is without any doubt the best and cheapest way to try the Majorcan cuisine.
