Luss is a beautiful little village where Take the High Road was filmed for many years. Do not park in the streets as you will be ticketed. The car parks are inexpensive and there’s now a new one on your left as you come into Luss. Luss is very picturesque and the cafes and coffee shops are lovely. If you want to eat dinner then I suggest the Loch Lomond Arms on the left as you enter Luss. Really good reputation. Lomond Leisure run activities from Luss Pier and from Lomond Shores Which is a walk from the lodge. They do boat trips,, water sports, SUP boards, canoes etc and life jackets are provided. Wetsuits can be hired at £5 per person. I prefer to do the activities at Luss as it makes for better photos! You can just turn up at Luss Pier beach and hope to be able to hire but I suggest booking T 0333 577 0715. Www.Loch Lomond-scotland.com

Around the lodge there is The Little Demon Golfcourse, The Marina, a beach to wild swim in the Loch, The Boathouse restaurant and bar and a walkway to Lomond Shores where there are a few shops, Deep Sea World, Treetops rope course, called Treezone. My kids love this! Birds of Prey centre, Crazy golf and water activities and boat trips. Www.lochlomondshores.com If you walk in the opposite direction from Lomond Shores you will come to the famous Duck Bay Marina restaurant www.duckbay.co.uk

Sightseeing

The best way to get to this Famous Five uninhabited island is by a small ferry boat running from Balmaha Boatyard. Cruise Loch Lomond also runs three trips to the island per day and can be boarded from Luss. Book your tickets in advance. We like going from Balmaha because you are often the only people on the little boat and it doesn’t take long to get over to the island. If you get the little boat you walk about twenty mins across the island and onto the beautiful beach where you can enjoy some wild swimming. You can also walk up the hill on the island and visit the old graveyard. See www.see Loch Lomond.co.uk for more info but this is a trip not to miss. There is a compost toilet on the island. We always eat in Balmaha when we get off the boat The restaurant is called The Oak Tree. it serves Scottish food and drink - very good www.theoaktreeinn.co.uk
