Lovely easy walk from Alness takes you passed wartime archeology to the pier where sea planes - Catalina’s and Sunderland flying boats were moored. Great views back towards Alness and the hills of Ross shire. Spectacular 360’ degree views. Lots of bird life. Your host has a small collection of literature on this part of the areas history, please ask.

The Stones of the Pictish Peninsulas can make for an interesting tour of the area taking in ancient archaeology. Perhaps worth a look-see before or after your trip to the Seaboard Villages and some of the fine beaches in the area. The stone was carved around 800 AD

If you are interested in wartime archeology this is a must! Otherwise maybe give a pass!! You can check out these amazing structures and their history on you tube. These abandoned oil tanks produce the worlds longest echoe in a man made structure. (Over 30 minutes) At the time of writing it is possible to visit the tanks. Contact Alan to assist. - the tanks access is a challenge. They are deep underground and over 250 meters long and speak to the important association of the area to the British war time Fleet. The Natal Gardens, commemorating the sinking of HMS Natal December 1915 with the loss of over 400 lives, is a place of reflection close to the heart of Invergordon. For a history buff good to combine with a visit to Invergordon Museum.

Wildlife here is considerable and as the area improves its environmement can develop further. Birds from the Bar Tailed Godwit to the Whooper Swan, Harbour Porpoise and Bottlenosed Dolphin, Fox and Dear can all be found. If you have an interesting sighting please let us know.
