Sunset Park, at 41st St and Fifth Ave!

It's one of the highest spots in NY and has a great view of Manhattan and the hudson. You'll always find interesting groups of people doing different interesting things (zumba, tai chi, basketball, kite flying, handball) and there is a kids' playground, a soccer field, handball/tennis backboard and a huge community pool in the summer.

Ferries are great!

worth checking out, and same price as the subway! the stop in Sunset Park is a subway ride away, but still - fast to Manhattan or lower Brooklyn and a great ride: https://www.ferry.nyc/routes-and-schedules/route/south-brooklyn/
