My Favourite Towns and Villages
Some itineraries of the best things to see and do in my favourite local towns and villages.
Cullen is my favourite place to visit, for a walk along its sandy beach and impressive viaduct, followed by a vanilla ice cream cone from the famous Cullen Ice Cream Shop!
The town centre has lots of independent shops, including a gallery with work by local artists and Cullen Antiques, a labrynth-like shop in an old church and sprawling into the neighbouring shops with antiques and curios.
Grab a bite of lunch at the Rockpool cafe or Dine in The Cullen Bay Hotel's mid-range restaurant, where you'll have a stunning view out across the bay and a good chance of spotting bottlenose dolphins playing.

Portsoy is a must-visit village! It has a pretty amazing 17th-century harbour, which features in several films, including Local Hero. The harbour is best enjoyed with an ine-cream in hand from the best ice cream shop ever, Portsoy Ice Cream! My go-to is a two scoop tub with fugdy wudgy, belgian chocolate and hot toffee sauce!
Also, don't miss the Portsoy Marble Shop by the harbour, where local stone and pottery is sold, and of course the boat shed community enterprise project!

Spey Bay is home to the Scottish Dolphin Centre and there's an excellent chance you'll see these incredible creatures from the beach here! The dolphin centre has a lovely cafe and there are great walks to enjoy.
