Taxi transport in Rijeka is one of the most affordable in Croatia, and the starting price for the first 5 kilometers is 20-30 kn. Rijeka's public transport takes buses, which connect different parts of the city with the center, but also the city with nearby places. A walk along the Promenade in the morning necessarily involves drinking coffee on one of the many terraces. The ritual of drinking coffee, with a conversation, a newspaper or watching passers-by, is an unavoidable part of the day for almost every citizen of Rijeka. In the spirit of the Mediterranean, without haste and in a good atmosphere, coffee is sometimes drunk for hours.

If you still don't want to cook on your own on holiday, sit down to lunch at one of the surrounding restaurants, which serve daily specialties made from ingredients that arrive in the kitchen directly from the market and fish market.

Rijeka's favorite promenade is the old breakwater, which offers a beautiful view of the city from the sea. Fishing boats are moored along the promenade, and in the middle of it you will pass under two large port cranes, which have been loading cargo on ships arriving in the port of Rijeka from all over the world. Thanks to the configuration of the terrain, from this place you will see almost the entire city, skyscrapers, palaces on the waterfront and the old port warehouses. At the end of the breakwater, climb the stairs to the signal point and enjoy the view of the sea, islands and Učka.

In the summer evenings, the city center becomes a place for socializing people from Rijeka on numerous open terraces in the city center and on Trsat. The murmur, laughter and soft music echo through the streets and squares. If you are a wine lover, don't miss a glass of some of the famous Croatian varieties, and if you prefer beer, enjoy local beers produced by Rijeka's craft breweries. As with morning coffees, evening "booze" also often last for hours, and often extend into a night out.
