If you are in Istanbul during spring months, Princes' islands will be a great option for a day trip. In Turkish, we call this archipelago of nine islands shortly as "Islands/Adalar". According to the sources, the archipelago was called "Princes' Islands" during the Byzantine Period as they were exiled on these and later on, it was used for similar reasons during times of political turmoil in the Republic of Turkey. While the Islands were historically used for political purposes, with time they have become home to various communities such as Jews, Armenians, and Greeks during the Ottoman Empire period. Today the Islands are primarily residential and an appealing attraction both for local and international visitors. As there are no private engine cars are allowed, a bike tour around the island -whichever one you are visiting- is one of the most pleasant spring activities in Istanbul.

Primarily as a residential area, Pendik offers its visitors a relatively peaceful stay. Pendik municipality has built many parks that accommodate many green places, exercise fields and running parcours around the area. If you are already familiar with the city and would like to discover the neighborhood, you can do some sightseeing around these near the coast.
