Lugares emblemáticos

I love to visit places where legends and history go hand to hand. On top, scenary views of the cantabric coast are really breathtaking. If you visit it on winter you will perfectly understand why it was chosen as a Game of Thrones filming location. If you decide to visit it on Summer, book tickets the sooner the better. Don´t miss to ring the bell three times and ask for a wish!

Vibrant cultural where visitors can experience how locals make best use of the different spaces. In the atrium , the columns with different shapes and materials are perfect place for kids to hide or jump from one spotlight from the other. People getting down to watch movies, riding a stationary biclycle or lifting up your head to be suprised by a swimming pool with transparent bottom! Don´t leave the center without having a coffee in the company of many kissers (haha in large size pictures). Sure, it is one my favorite places in Bilbao!

Vida Nocturna/Night Life

Definitely, Pozas is one of the most famous street in Bilbao. Either for enjoying pintxos or a meal, experience “el ambientillo” which is the enthusiastic atmosphere football fans create before any Athletic Club game or joining your “cuadrilla”, lifetime pals, to “txiikiteo” rounds, which means drinking in several bars. Miguel and his girlfriend are a fantastic couple and Airbnb guest. They stayed at my place for about a month. Miguel is also one of the bartenders at Ados, Pozas 48. It happens that Montse, another Airbnb, told me that her friends in Madrid recommended her to cater a vermouth in Bilbao, a Vermouth “preparau” or Bilbain way. Of course, I have no doubt to take her to Ados. Miguel delighted us with three recipes. His first recommendation was a Mango Vermouth. At the moment he said, Mango, we both hummed and heartly nodded. Montse is Mexican and I am Dominican. Then, it was both choice for the first round. But Montse wanted to taste one of the special Bilbao´s vermouth. I rather kept on sweet flavours style. I decided for a Strawberry Vermouth and Montse for a A Dos preparau Vermouth. Thee second round choices also pleases us. While having our drinks, next to us a couple were alleviating the high temperatures registered in Bilbao this September 2020 with two mojitos. Several parishioners were asking for all types of drinks. The night was short we have to leave it in just two rounds. It was weekday. No doubt about, Miguel is a devoted guardian of the fame of Bilbain´s vermouth preparau.

Barik card offers better transport discounts for multiusers

If you are planning to stay for several days in Bilbao, even a weekend, it is worthy to buy a Barik card. This is the card that (we) locals use in a wide range of public transport systems such as metro, bus lines, tram, railways, Portugalete bridge transborder, funiculars (Artxanda and Larreineta). This pre-paid card costs 3 euros (non refundable) and has to be recharged for use. Up to ten people can travel with one card. If you are flying in, it is better to buy it at the airport. There is ticket booth just before the bus station (line 3247)

Don´t expect a welcoming greeting when you enter a pintxobar

Or the waiter is too busy (rush hours are from about 13:30 to 15:00 or from about 18:00 to 20:30) or he will wait for you to decide which pintxo and drink you will order. Once you are ready, order, otherwise if somebody else steps in after you and immediately order, he/she will be serve first!
