Food Scene
The best tripe soup in town (ciorba de burta). Additionally, you can order small sausages with mustard (mici cu mustar) and a local bear. The staff doesn't speak English, the menu is in Romanian, the restaurant is a bit spooky, but I still recommended for great food and an authentic Romanian experience. All the other traditional Romanian restaurants are very touristy.

Guesthouse and restaurant, Weidner House is refurbished in an old traditional house. The restaurant has Romanian dishes as well and a daily menu in summer (16 RON). The lemonade is good and you have the views of the Large Square while eating your lunch/dinner.

La Dobrun is a place with food history in Sibiu. It burnt 10 years ago and the owners built it again. The restaurant is huge and has a traditional atmosphere, a pleasant and quiet garden, and a hearty daily menu (14 RON - 12-13.30).

The ensemble of the three main squares (Piata Mare, Piata Mica, Piata Huet) is the main hot spot of Sibiu's historic center. In the Large Square you have a Tourist Information center, the Catholic church which you can visit for free, the Brukenthal Museum where you can buy a day-ticket which includes all the other museum from the town.

Piata Huet is the oldest square of Sibiu and the place where the Saxons first settled here during the Middle ages. This is the reason why the square has a circular form, because the houses were built on the ruins of the first fortifications of the town (you can still see a part of the oldest fortifications in the courtyard of Weinkeller Restaurant, in the southern part of the square, entrance under an arch). Visit the Evangelic cathedral and don't forget to climb up the bell tower from where you have panoramic views of the historic center.

The buildings surrounding the church have kept their original function and accommodate elder people (it is still an asylum nowadays). You can shoot good photos pf the Asylum Church from the courtyard of the Weinkeller Restaurant, which has access from the Huet Square.

Parcul Astra is the main green area from the historic center. It is a small park but at its western corner you can see (or even join!) the locals playing chess, cards, and all sorts of board games. Try it for a authentic experience.

Gusterita is a Saxon village, now a neighborhood of Sibiu. You can visit the old Evangelic fortified church from the center and from there hike up along Strada Malinului towards the metal cross that stands uphill. Ignore the dogs barking at you (they are nice and friendly when you talk with them) and continue uphill a dirt road that slightly turns right toward a panoramic point of Sibiu and Fagarasi Mountains. From the lookout you can come back along the same way or complete a loop , passing through a small village down the valley (but it's too complicated to explain the hike here).
