Sightseeing

The beach at Kua is very safe for younger kids and great for surfers further out. The estuary is fun for paddle boarding. There is a lovely walk all along the coast with white sand and easy access. Dogs are allowed off lead in marked areas and on the reserve 🐕

Beside the ferry is a very large brand new kids destination playground with heaps of activities including a play boat. You can also take the very short ferry ride (5 minutes) across to ferry landing and walk to a lovely white sand beach past cafes and ice cream shops. Fun little trip for anyone especially families.

Quiet and stunning. A wonderful drive from kuaotunu (10 mins) on a windy road with spectacular views. Shady spots for a beach picnic. Lots of safe swimming for kids in the shallows. Fun swimming in big waves for the adults. Great day out - no shops take some food and drinks with you!

Can not recommend this highly enough - such a special remote place - accessible only by walking across the water from whangapoua. Please check tide times so you can get there and back safely. Easy walking track. Beautiful spot last remaining beach not sold out to investors - you won’t be disappointed 🌈

Food scene

A lovely spot with a view for coffee in the morning, and to view local art and buy fresh produce. In the evening they have music, pizzas fresh out of the oven and a fully licensed bar. Great vibes and super chilled out 💚
