Have a coffee at the pavillion stalls, watch and participate with Sunkissed Salsa every second Sunday afternoon in summer (Sea Point Pavilion, next to the swimming pool, Beach Road, Sea Point: http://www.capetownetc.com/events/sun-kissed-salsa-summer-series-4/), watch locals, kick a ball, admire puppies, use the outdoor gym for free - we love it. There's even a documentary about our promenade (Sea Point Days)

Our closest shopping mall. Don't believe anyone who says it's too 'touristy'. Locals love it too, there's always something to see and do, especially on weekends, but during weekdays when it is quieter, it is just as wonderful. Great stores, many restaurants, grocery stores, movies, anything you want, including camping gear at Cape Union Mart, and an artisan food market. The new art and design market, The Watershed, is outstanding.

Sunset from the upper deck is wonderful. This venue has a coffee / deli, a bar, and a lovely indoor restaurant and an upper deck with great sunset view. My new favourite!

Book in advance! A beautiful old house in Kloof street, Gardens, just up from Long street. Wonderful vegetarian options (besides a lot more), and reasonable prices. The decor is magnificent, both indoors and outdoors. Especially recommended in the evenings as the fairy lights and candles make it extra special. If you're coming in your own vehicle, there is secure parking at the back of the restaurant.

30 Kloof StBook in advance! A beautiful old house in Kloof street, Gardens, just up from Long street. Wonderful vegetarian options (besides a lot more), and reasonable prices. The decor is magnificent, both indoors and outdoors. Especially recommended in the evenings as the fairy lights and candles make it extra special. If you're coming in your own vehicle, there is secure parking at the back of the restaurant.

Each full moon night you will see lots of bobbing lights going up Lions Head as hikers make their way up in the moonlight. A word of caution that the mountain has many good walks but do take care. Go during daylight hours (unless it's a full moon when there are lots of people on this trail), always take warm clothing and water, and take local advice from nature conservation safety officers about safe places to walk. It is not recommended to go alone or to carry lots of valuables. Accidents can occur so please be careful along the trails.
